How to play
A simple guide to your first imposter round
Use this when the group asks what the game is, which mode to pick, and how the discussion usually flows.
What is Imposter / Undercover?
Imposter Game is a social deduction party game. Most players share one clue or word family, while one player gets a slightly different clue or no clue at all. Everyone gives hints, listens for inconsistencies, and votes on who seems out of place.
How to play in person with one phone
Choose Pass & Play when the whole group is in the same room. Set the player count, let each person privately reveal one word on the shared phone, then move straight into a clue-sharing round. This is the best option when you want fast setup with casual party energy.
How to play online with separate devices
Choose Room Mode when everyone has their own phone. The host creates a room, players join with a room code, everyone reveals their own word privately, then the group discusses on a call and returns to the room for anonymous voting and eliminations.
First-round shortcut
If the group wants the fastest possible start, pick the mode, reveal roles privately, and let each player give one clue before any cross-talk begins.
